Upholstery Fabrics That Are Great for Pet Owners

For more than three decades, GBS Enterprises has provided the pest control, bedding, and hospitality industries with a variety of healthy sleep products and Protect All furniture warranty plans. The warranty plans offered by GBS Enterprises cover all types of accidental damage to wood, leather, and fabric furniture, including pet stains.

No matter how frequently you brush your pets or clip their claws, certain fabrics are better suited for upholstered furniture than others. Below are a few fabrics that are best for pet owners:

- Leather: Having leather or faux leather upholstery is great when you own pets since it does not attract pet hair or pet odor. This makes it easier to clean up since you just need a dust cloth or vacuum to get rid of fur. However, leather does scratch and may look bad if you don’t keep your dog or cat away from the furniture.

- Microfiber: This type of fabric is a dream to maintain if you have pets. Since microfiber is knit together very closely, fur and hair are easily removed with a lint brush or by hand. Meanwhile, the fabric does not rip easily and stains are often easily removed with water and mild soap.

- Denim: The durability and ruggedness of denim make it a great choice for a less formal area of your house. Furniture upholstered in denim is easy to clean and don’t attract pet hair very often. Further, the weave is tight, so you don’t have to worry about scratches.

- Outdoor fabrics: Since these fabrics are typically used for outdoor furniture, it is designed to be resistant to stains, odors, bacteria, and moisture. Because of this high level of durability, outdoor fabrics stand up well to pets. You can either bring outdoor fabric inside by getting a furniture slipcover made of outdoor fabric or having your indoor furniture re-upholstered with it.
